Look What Happened to That Sleepy Little Corner!

Retail Project Supports Exploding Population

Area residents exclaim, “Thirty years ago when we bought our house in the woods off Route 528, relatives said, ‘Who’s going to visit you!’” Now, with 4,000 plus homes and senior citizen developments under construction, the demand for local, convenient shopping centers and commercial services is growing.

Although some people long for the “good ole days,” most nearby residents are thrilled with the developing retail and office center called Jackson Crossings, at the intersection of Hope Chapel Road (Route 547) and East Veterans Highway (County Route 528), and the fact that they won’t have to fight the traffic and use up precious gas to get into town or to a shopping mall.

A WaWa convenience store and gas station has already opened. According to Vito F. Cardinale, the Red Bank-based developer and owner, a good mix of retail stores, offices, and medical practices will be opening soon. Expect to see Rite Aid Pharmacy, McDonald’s, Shore Community Bank, Karate Dojo, Doraldo Ristorante Italiano, Surf Taco, Edible Arrangements, H&R Block, Tantricx Tanning, T&T Nails, Ocean Eye Institute, and Ocean Dance. A liquor license for restaurant use is available as is space for additional businesses that are seeking a presence here.

Cardinale said, “Jackson Crossings is going to be one of the most beautiful retail, office, and medical developments in Ocean County. Phase III of the development will include offices and a medical park. We are putting in a walking trail for area residents and an outside sitting area with umbrellas, a place where people can relax and read the paper if they want to.  We have used only upscale architecture with arches, brick and block. I really want everyone to say that we have made a beautiful, safe, and useful contribution that meets the future needs of Jackson and the surrounding area.”

With so many homes and senior citizen developments under construction within a two to three mile radius of the site, no one can deny the tremendous amount of residential growth in the area, including a brand new high school on 155 acres right across from Jackson Crossings.

“This entire area is going through a transition,” says realtor, developer Ron Rosetto, Toms River.  “Things are happening here. The traffic counts are getting heavier, and more and more homes are being built in the area.”

Officials in Jackson Township itself are excited about the project because this development is one that will bring ratables to the community.
