FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP— CentraState Healthcare Foundation held a wine tasting party last month that raised $188,000 for its Multiple Sclerosis Center. More than 400 people attended the event.
The hospital also recognized three honorees for their long standing commitment to philanthropic activities, support of non-profit organizations such as CentraState Medical Center and professional accomplishments. They were: Mike Elkow, Northeast Regional Executive Vice President of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society; Daniel J. Messina, PhD, FACHE, LNHA, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of CentraState Healthcare System; and Ken Regan, Vice President of Regan Development Corporation who teamed with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s New Jersey Metro Chapter to develop Kershaw Commons, the East Coast’s first independent supportive rental housing for people living with MS.
The CentraState Multiple Sclerosis Center was developed with the support of the New Jersey Metro Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to bring comprehensive care to people with MS and their families. Patients receive coordinated care for evaluation, education and treatment in a range of specialties. A multidisciplinary team includes a nurse coordinator, neurologist, and physical, speech and occupational therapists, and other specialists as required. The center also offers nutritional services, patient education/counseling, and complementary medicine therapies such as Reiki.
